Graphic Narrative: Stories in Word + Image
TEACHING ARTIST: Lin Lucas
8 SESSIONS >> Tuesdays, 10/14-12/9 FROM 2-4PM PDT (no class 11/11)
ONLINE
In this 8-session class, you will create your own graphic narrative—a story told through words and pictures—drawing on life lessons from experiences such as illness, friendship, love, loss, connection to nature, and the personal “origin stories” that shape your strength and resilience. Using materials like pens, markers, collage, photographs, and text, you will bring your story to life in a meaningful and personal way. Each session will include time for art-making, and self-reflection supported by guided visualizations and somatic (mind/body/spirit) awareness exercises. At the end of the class, we will gather to share our completed works with one another in a supportive and creative community.
Please note the physical manipulation of materials may require hand dexterity and may not be suitable for all. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns by emailing program@pathwithart.org. We want to support you in your access needs.

The course culminates in the creation of a personal piece of surreal art and an optional final presentation.

Path with Art has an annual fall fundraiser––the Art for All Ball––which raises money to keep our programming free to participants and partners. Participants work with Teaching Artists to create theatrical outfits for community leaders who serve as models and walk the runway at the fundraiser. The outfits have traditionally been made out of common or found materials, we call this “Found Fashion.” Participants who have high attendance in these classes will be invited to the fall fundraiser on a free ticket.
All of our Found Fashion classes are In-Person at the artHOME in Seattle. Participants may take one Found Fashion class in addition to another class.

8 sessions >> TUESDAYS, 10/14-11/25 from 1-3pm (no class 11/11)

Join us for Zipped Together, a dynamic, hands-on fashion class where you will explore the endless design potential of one of fashion’s most overlooked tools: the zipper. This collaborative class dives into experimental garment construction using reclaimed and surplus zippers as the primary material, pushing the boundaries between structure, sculpture, and style to make an outfit for our community model as part of the Art for All Ball.
You’ll learn some basic sewing techniques, textile manipulation, and upcycling strategies, all while working as a team to design and build a one-of-a-kind, wearable garment made almost entirely out of zippers
Participants who have high attendance in this class will be invited to the fall fundraiser, our Art for All Ball, on a free ticket.
Please note the physical manipulation of materials may require hand dexterity and may not be suitable for all. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns by emailing program@pathwithart.org. We want to support you in your access needs.

MATERIALS MAILED TO PARTICIPANTS
The art of collage appears in music, poetry, and the visual arts. This art kit focuses on collage as a visual art form and encourages an exploration of color, shape and composition. With the contents of this art kit, users can glue and stick various paper and fabric pieces together to create new and unique artworks. Collage-making is also an opportunity to bring the everyday life into your artwork: dig through your junk drawer and use old newspaper clippings or magazine cutouts; upcycle junk mail and tissue paper; re-purpose old photographs and artworks. Play and experiment to make unique works of art!
