Dreamscape: A Writing Series

TEACHING ARTIST: Gloria Joy KAzuko Muhammad
8 sessions >> Tuesdays, 7/22-9/9 from 2-4pm

ONLINE

What dreams do you have? In what ways are you seeking to expand in life? How do you want to feel in life, what emotions do you want to experience more of in your lifetime? What do you want to create for yourself, your family or your community? Often in day to day life, we can ignore or not take a moment to name how we want to live or experience this beautiful gift we have, called life.

In “Dream Space” - we will travel our inner worlds to cultivate our intentions for how we want to feel in life, what we'd like to experience, and what we want to create in life. We will use writing as a tool for self-expression for naming, describing, and calling in the beauty, abundance, and dreams we seek to come to life. In this interactive class, we will have time for writing, reading or listening (such as poetry, quotes or music), and sharing. Participants are recommended to have a paper and pencil available. If you have colored pencils/drawing materials available, feel compelled to incorporate visual art with your writing.

Paint Your Life

We will use conté crayons, and the final drawings will incorporate watercolor washes.

This will be an advanced class. Previous experience drawing the figure such as self-portraits and figure drawing is recommended.

Found Fashion: Urban Blooms — Nature-Inspired

TEACHING ARTIST: Ernesto Fernandez
6 sessions >> TUESDAYS, 7/18-9/19 from 1-4 pm PDT

ArtHome | 200 Mercer St, Seattle, WA 98109

In this bold and expressive Found Fashion class, we’ll take inspiration from the unexpected beauty of nature flourishing in the city—ivy spilling down brick walls, bursts of color in sidewalk cracks, and the quiet strength of plants pushing through concrete. Using found materials, we will create a voluminous costume for our community model that channels nature’s exuberance, cascading forms, and playful spirit. Participants will work on this collaborative costume making bows, birds, flowers, leaves, and other natural forms for the costume while also learning about elements of costume construction. In December, our model will rock the runway as part of the Art for All Ball and this costume will be an embodiment of strength blooming in unlikely places. Let your imagination grow wild as we celebrate movement, color, and transformation through fashion that reCHARGES both artist and viewer.

Participants who have high attendance in this class will be invited to the fall fundraiser, our Art for All Ball, on a free ticket.

TEACHING ARTIST: Kathleen Trott
6 sessions >> TUESDAYS, 7/18-9/19 from 1-4 pm PDT

ArtHome | 200 Mercer St, Seattle, WA 98109

In this radical costuming class, we’ll deconstruct gender norms by transforming found clothing and everyday objects into expressive, one-of-a-kind costume for our community model that will walk the runway at Path with Art's fall fundraiser--the Art for All Ball. Through critical discussion and hands-on creation, we will explore questions like: Why are some garments gendered—and what happens when we undo that? This class will work on a collaborative costume for our model, with all of us contributing to the final look. We aim to honor our model's identity through imaginative, subversive fashion. Come ready to rip seams, challenge assumptions, and stitch together something entirely new.

Participants who have high attendance in this class will be invited to the fall fundraiser, our Art for All Ball, on a free ticket.
