Pride at Path with Art

The opening reception for the Pride at Path with Art exhibit will coincide with the Third Thursday Uptown Art Walk on Thursday, May 16th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm: RSVP here

Join us for our first ever Pride at Path with Art exhibition to celebrate the work of our LGBTQIA+ artists. In 2023, 30% of the Path with Art participant population identified as LGBTQIA+ and our new LGBTQIA+ Open Studio was started as a space for participants to create community through art. Featuring artwork made both by artists in the community and during our LGBTQIA+ Open Studio, this exhibition showcases what Pride, identity, community and queer joy means through art.

Pride month was established in response to the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan, and was a catalyst for the LGBTQIA+ rights movement. The community has made great strides in the fight for same-sex marriage and transgender rights, but still continues to face threats of losing their rights to this day. In a society that increasingly seeks to ostracize the LGBTQIA+ communities, we are striving to foster a strong community through art and the celebration of pride, identity, and the history of the movement that has brought us here today. This exhibition highlights the strength, love, and resiliency of the LGBTQIA+ communities through the empowering nature of art as a healing and community building medium.

The exhibition will remain in the gallery through June 28th, 2024.

Thank you to these funders listed and our vast community of donors who all help support our work, believing that art can bring healing.

PwA Exhibition: A Place of Belonging

PwA Exhibition: A Place of Belonging

Join us to celebrate the inspiring creativity of our community!

A Place of Belonging will feature artworks created in Path with Art programming during 2023 classes so far.

In a world filled with complexities and uncertainties, where divisions often overshadow unity, we present to you "Coming Back Together: A Place of Belonging." This exhibition is a reminder that, through art, we can find our place of belonging—a space where differences are celebrated, isolation is banished, and the power of collective creativity shines. Through classes, ambassador-led sessions, cohort-specific workshops, open studios and jam sessions, the ArtHome has become that place.  These engagements are not just about acquiring skills but bringing people together in a beautifully unscripted way.

"Coming Back Together" is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. It recognizes that art is often born from the depths of our collective trauma, an eloquent response that seeks strength not in our differences but in our shared experiences. It is a celebration of art's healing and restorative power, a testament to the human capacity to overcome adversity through creativity.  At its core, art transcends the boundaries that too often divide us. As you explore the artworks and experiences in this exhibition, we hope you find your own sense of belonging within these walls and carry it with you as a beacon of connection in a world seeking unity and understanding.

The exhibition will remain in the gallery through March 29th, 2024.

The Tempest at Seattle Rep

Path with Art is very grateful to have an ongoing partnership with Seattle Rep's Public Works. This year we collaborated on a two-quarter acting class in the winter and spring programs taught by Taryn Collis.

The following description was submitted by the event organizer:

The powerful Prospero, banished to a magical island by a conniving sibling, bewitches a storm to bring them back together for a final showdown—will it be revenge or reconciliation? Sprites abound, young lovers meet, and mischief is made as two very different worlds collide. With a cast of 60+ and featuring spectacular guest performances from local community groups, Seattle Rep’s Public Works community brings to life this musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s otherworldly adventure.

From Isolation to Creation - Opening Reception

The pandemic was traumatic for everyone. PwA was with our Participant Artists during the entire process; we never closed our doors (690 PA’s in 2020 vs 890 in 2019), and ramped up our online programming providing venues and resources to overcome the trauma of a pandemic and restoration through arts engagement and community building. Participant Artists responded to the challenge to be engaged by creating pieces that talk about their experience during this challenging time.

This special body of work reflects both the difficulties and resilience we experienced over these last couple of years.

Join us to reflect and to celebrate new beginnings!

This show will run from April 14-May15th 2023, so if you cannot make it to the opening be sure to stop by during our open hours to check it out.
