The Closed Door

The door is shut
Is it locked?

I dare not let it open
For my greatest fear awaits
On the other side.

It has stalked me since I was small
Looking for a chance to rip me wide open.

A chance to get at my heart
Which it would feed upon.

The door must hold
For feelings are on the other side.
